Race to the finish

Lots to talk about in this Post. I have been meaning to write up one of these for a couple of weeks now but as with most excuses life happens so fast now a days it seems.

First and foremost, I am finally a graduate of Gnomon's 3 year certificate program. I don't know if it has actually hit me quite yet that I am finally finished with 'official' higher education for now.

Always new stuff to learn. Luckily life has kept me quite busy applying for artist positions and finishing up a short film project I have been working on for the past few months at my internship with Darkmatter so I can't really tell if I am 'done' as of yet. I haven't really seen day light in a few months and it doesn't seem likely that I will for another couple of weeks at this rate.

I will be doing a write up of the project itself after it has been released but as for now we are about 2 weeks out from being done. So much to do still, however I am looking forward to the long days ahead. I am really quite excited for the project to finally be at a place where we can start polishing so we can show people.

I have to say thank you to Jose Ortiz for giving me and my cohorts on this project the opportunity to work on it and giving us quite a lot of leeway when it came to the look and design of the project. I would also like to say thanks to Sang Lee and Jeff Schlotzhauer for standing with me on the front lines getting this project done.

Here is a quick teaser for some old look dev I did for the project a while back. Things have changed quite a bit since I did this, but I was pleasantly surprised with some of the early looks we did.

Also since being done with school, I have quite a lot of free time on my hands (*sarcasm*). So, I started diving into Houdini and C4d some more. I am fairly competent in Maya for sure as a base software, but I would like to branch out a little and start stretching my creative muscles more. I feel like I need to have some more fun with some of my work so I can get a better feel to what direction I am going to take as an artist. So logically I wanted to be as mean to myself as possible by diving into 2 different software packages at the same time. I am sure that I will lean more one way than the other here pretty soon but brushing up on both right now is working well.

That's all for today. Another blog will be coming up later about my internship at Darkmatter and the project I was working on for that more in-depth.
